Design Service

We are an award-winning registered design practice with the British Institute of Interior Design. We provide you with expertise beyond the average kitchen design team.

Therefore, our ‘free’ design service is structured as follows;

1 – Comprehensive consultation
2 – Design concept presentation with detailed ballpark supply or project cost and 3D images
3 – Design confirmation appointment with tweaks made, product confirmation, mood board, updated 3D images and revised quote
At this point we take either;
Deposit – allowing design tweaks and confirmations up to 2 week prior to technical survey.
OR

Design Development Fee 2% of project cost OR £1,000 whichever is greater.  Further design work ahead of committing fully to project, placing deposit and booking survey.
For ground-floor renovations and 3+ room projects, we charge an initial Scoping Fee of £500-£1,000 to cover detailed site assessment and preliminary multi-room planning.
All design fees are credited against your project.

Initial Consultation

Your Lima Kitchens journey starts with your enquiry and our initial consultation.

Taking a holistic approach to your project, we begin by understanding you and your household requirements. Obtaining the details of your space, lifestyle, daily routines and of course tastes. Dependant on the scope of your project we will either visit your home to assess your existing space or, work from architectural plans should you be undertaking an extension or new build.

To achieve the best long term design for your investment the more we can understand areas such as foods you cook, work shifts, anticipated household changes, medical consideration, pets and any other specific requirements you, family members or regular visitors may have.

*Please note that insurance quotes carry an upfront £150 fee.

Design Concept Presentation

We will then look forward to welcoming you in to the showroom for your Design Concept Presentation.

We will work through the concept, explaining the reasoning behind the decisions impacting the proposal and how they will positively impact you. Along with this we will discuss our proposal on the most appropriate products and colour palette, taking onboard your feedback, initial reaction and any amendments you may wish to consider.

We will also discuss the ballpark cost, which is broken down, allowing you to see any product detail or assumptions we have made.

After this appointment we will provide you, via email, 3D images and the ballpark costing breakdown to reflect upon before our next appointment.

Design & Product Confirmation

Our confirmation appointment is again held in our showroom. This gives you the opportunity to either confirm and book your project with us, or opt for further design development.

Having made any amendments to the design we will meet again to discuss these changes, the impact on flow, any other considerations you have had and the products. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, feel products again, understanding any technical information or high level timings for the project.

In addition to the design and product selections, your designer will be able to show examples of our project planning and timescales. If you desire, and they are available, we may also be able to introduce you to members of the operation team who will be checking and organising your project.

At this point we will send you the 3D images, costings (subject to survey) and moodboard. At this point, most clients are satisfied that we are the right company to work with and happy to leave their deposit and get their project booked in. Should that not be the case, we take a fee for continued design development. This is at 2% of the project total and is credited against your project order.

We advise that if you wish to optimise our inclusive initial design offering that we book this appointment for after other design presentations should you still be seeking alternative designs and quotations. It is always a great idea to keep in touch with your designer through this period and even compile a full list of decisions you may make during this time. Sharing these with your designer with 1-2 weeks notice will also enable them to consider how these decisions can be implemented into our proposal.

Project services

Unlike many kitchen specialists, we are able to undertake the co-ordination of your wider project. Our specialist trade teams extend to the following services;

  • Structural engineers
  • Building teams – to remove both structural and non structural internal walls.
  • Internal and external doors and window alterations.
  • Part P electricians for rewiring, lighting and any consumer board upgrades.
  • Heating engineers for stylish radiators and both plumbed and electrical underfloor heating.
  • Decorating teams to undertake mist coats, finishing coats, feature walls and woodwork.
  • Plastering for your new room, or refinishing walls and ceilings that may require attention after the removal of your kitchen.
  • Certified flooring specialists for Amtico and Karndean – great for a warm easy-to-maintain floor.
  • Tiling specialist to install a variety of stone, porcelain and ceramic tiles.

All of our contractors adhere to building regulations and certification will be provided when applicable. We do highlight that final building certification is only issued to the homeowner. Please notify us, or the building inspection office, should you have not received your certificate at 12 weeks after building sign off inspection.

During projects with a wider scope of works there is more opportunity that we may uncover unexpected complications. We always work within safety and lawful guidelines which may require additional work, likewise, on occasion we may have to amend approaches in order to create a durable and stable finish. In these circumstances we will always aim to keep disruptions to your home, schedule and cost to a minimum.

Kitchen installation

Our kitchen installation team will remove your existing kitchen, fit all of your new units, worktops, tiling and splashbacks. In most cases, you will also require plumbing, electrical and plastering work to be carried out, which we can accommodate with our own qualified team.

Depending on your exisiting kitchen you may be able sell this via a company such as Rehome, alternatively we can organise for a registered waste removal company to dispose of it, along with any appliances, tiles, plasterboard etc.

Our experienced kitchen installation teams have worked with us for several years. They know our products, expectations, and the way we design; therefore making the process as smooth as possible with the best possible finish and longevity.

If you have a building team already working in your home, we are happy to simply supply your kitchen or our installation team are happy to install the kitchen units and worktops, leaving your builders to focus on other areas.
