How much value does a new kitchen add to my home?
A well-designed kitchen is one of the best investments you can make in your home, which is worth remembering when the figure feels daunting.
As a rough guide, clients regularly spend around 7 to 9 percent of their property value on the kitchen itself, meaning units, worktops, appliances, sinks, taps and installation, and typically add in the region of 10 percent to the value of their home. If you’re undertaking a major reconfiguration or an extension, both the spend and the uplift tend to increase.
It’s worth bearing in mind what sits inside that percentage. The 7 to 9 percent often doesn’t include extras such as lighting, flooring, decorating, or new internal or external doors and windows. Those add to the total, but they also add to the finished result and to how the whole space presents against your home’s value.
